Our teacher showed us what to do using book creator and off we went. Taking photos or finding them off drop box, adding text and making it look good.

Our school production provided us with an ideal opportunity to look at pirates and how they lived. We developed a keen interest in what pirates were all about, what they ate, how they lived on ships and how they talked. We are also learning to become storytellers and created this story using our own ideas and words. We are exploring the ipad app - Book Creator as another way of publishing our stories. The eBook app - Book Creator has helped us to create our own class book to share with each other and the wider community.

We had to learn how to use technology to retell information to the reader about Malawi. We had a new student begin Term 3 in our class and she was from Malawi. I had to plan what information I was going to include, the important information. I had to research alot on the country like clothing and food. I worked with Tawina to find out more about her previous country. I had to search up pictures, images and videos to help engage the reader. I also had to type in my writing.

Access to information is powerful its how we use it which is powerful
We also looked at Malala and how she had used knowledge in a powerful way.
We also included our stepping up to make a change shoes created using the Colar mix app.
We are now working on our individual projects in the finding out/sorting out stage each linked to a topic and focused around a research question. Our next stage will be to present our learning summary perhaps using the Aurasma App as one tool .

We went to Deep Cove for our senior camp, in Term 2. We had some great new experiences and learned a lot about what is in Deep Cove and what people can do there. While we were in Deep Cove, we took lots of photos and videos so we could share our experience with the rest of the school.
When we got back to school, we decided to make an iBook, using 'iBooks Author' on the computer, so we could give people information about Deep Cove. We had to do a bit a research and use what we had learned on camp to find information for our iBook. We also had to go through all of the photos and videos that we had taken on camp to decide what we would use in our iBook. We made our iBook interesting by adding in widgets, like quizzes and videos.

As part of a Family Ancestor unit our class were investigating our own family history. Our teacher shared about his Grand parents and how they struggled to overcome challenges and obstacles in their lives. As a class we wanted to show what we discovered in an interesting way that would be able to be shared with family members easily.
Making an ebook using book creator was a logical choice. Students worked together firstly in pairs to explore what the app could do. Students were able to share their knowledge and demonstrate how to use features such as hyperlinks and including audio to the other class members via the apple TV
As a teacher it was great for me to see the enthusiasm students had in using the technology to create and share something they felt was of worth.
