Little Barrier

Jack & Tommy, Halfmoon Bay School, Year 7&8. Teacher: Kath Johnson.

In the April school holidays Jack & Tommy's family were invited to visit Little Barrier Island where their grandfather had lived and worked as a ranger in the 1970's. Their father lived on the Island when he was a child and his primary schooling was done through the Correspondence School. Unfortunately the dates for the trip to Little Barrier meant Jack and Tommy would miss the first week of term two. I suggested they recorded their excursion using video footage and photos and on their return, use their school MacBook to make a documentary about their trip to Little Barrier Island.
Tommy and Jack filmed their adventure on a GoPro2 video camera - still shots were taken on a Fujifilm XP camera. They used iMovie to make the film - skills involved were: editing & cutting footage, writing a script, using voiceover to record the audio and adding music and sound effects.
