How Can You Keep Yourself Safe

As a part of the Keeping Ourselves Safe unit, we have had Constable Marty and Elgregeo visit and teach the children a range of strategies of how they could keep themselves safe. They wanted to create a news reports with a clear and informative message that would be understood by other junior children. Their learning intentions where:
- write a script that explains their this aspect of keeping themselves safe
- design artwork to match and reflect their scene
- speak fluently with a clear voice
- include a green screen

Room Tui wanted to share what they have learnt in the form of an IMovie. They were inspired with what the senior children at Woodlands have produced. To start the process off, they created a storyboard and mapped out what information needed to be included. A class decision, of a news reports, was agreed upon after viewing all the themes on IMovie, as it was a best fit. Children applied for their roles and then created scripts, designed how their segment would look, art work and editing. The whole class created the starting and end of the report and made sure the new report had flow.
