History of NZ

Room 12, Windsor North School, Year 1-3. Teacher: Sally Crawford.

Our school inquiry focus was the History of New Zealand. In class we made a timeline of the main events in New Zealand History and reading groups researched events that interested them. They had a choice to present the information using Explain Everything or a Popplet.
The class also had an opportunity to make an imovie trailer during the term to learn the basics of planning and making an imovie.
We decided to bring the information we found out about New Zealand history together by using an imovie documentary or news format.
We wanted to include tellagamis and puppet pals to present the information and children were able to do this independently.
Several challenges were encountered transferring information from one place to another and inserting sound but it turned out to be a great hands on learning experience
This work is primarily by the children with only a little guidance with planning and sequence.
