Girls' Guide to Defeating Bullies

Room 9, Winton School, Year 7&8. Teacher: Julie Mynes.

All year 7 & 8 girls took part in a 3 day self defence course. Our objective was to show others what we learnt. We chose to create a documentary which not only shared our new knowledge, but also past knowledge from previous topic covering bullying.
How to use green screen with Do Ink Green Screen app, and also using straight recording with green material as background and applying green screen skills in iMovies. We learnt how to crop edges off the film where the green screen didn't spread wide enough. We also learnt how to adjust audio sound when layering a variety of media files on top of each other in a timeline. When using different devices we had to learn to export using email, airdrop, or cloud file sharing.Year 7/8 girls went to a self defence course earlier in the year which helped us learn about defending ourself and discussed different types of bullying. A member of our group came up with the idea of creating a documentary to merge the two learning areas together. We wrote a storyline and took on parts ourselves. We also brought in members of our classroom to act out the bullying scenes. Not many girls in our group were familiar with iMovies so we all learnt lots of new skills. Great teamwork, persistence, problem solving, patience and trying new things were all important to help us complete this documenatry.
