No Helmet, No Brain

In Term 2, parents in our community expressed a concern about scooter and cycle safety, particularly wearing helmets around our streets. Kid Safe New Zealand also sent units out to schools to reinforce road safety. We conducted a survey on 'survey monkey' for our community to complete. In maths we studied data online for accidents in school age children. We took action by producing instructional videos and posters to get a message of safety out to our community.

We received new ipads at our school and now have 6 Ipads permenantly in our classroom. We also have a BYOD policy where we can bring our own devices to school.

My digital image was first created on the iPhone using the camera tool. I then used the app PhotoFusion to create different layers to manipulated my image to tell a story. The first layer is of my friend who has fallen of their schooter without a helmet on. The second layer is a creative commons image safe for re-use, of a human brain. I fused the two images together. As PhotoFusion doesn't allow you to add/draw, so I then exported my image to a class laptop and used Gimp X11 to enlarge 200% to draw blood splatters/drops/puddle.
