Room 2, Makarewa School. Year 2. At writing time we have been investigating how to write a really good character description. We all had to choose a character that we knew really well and using the criteria we wrote a description.
I chose to write about a pirate because I had been a pirate in my school production and I used this to inspire me to write about pirates. We have been investigating imovies, using green screening and simple acting as another way of sharing our writing with an audience.

Alex, Ethan and Angus, Room 2, St Thomas Aquinas. Year 3-5. Teacher: Summer Wilton. In our inquiry in Term 3 we were learning who and how people lived in the Bible times. Our task was to retell the stories of the bible and present information to the audience. We decided to use puppetpals. We researched images which matched the parts in our story. We took photos of the images (characters and backgrounds) using the ipad and the programme puppetpals. We had to trace around and trim our characters. One of us was talking while the other two were moving the characters and changing the backgrounds. WE took turns. We took our images from the Childrens Bible and online.

The aim of this task was to write about a place they visited in the holidays using rich, descriptive language. Their writing had to include examples of adjectives, similes and use their senses.
The planning included a senses chart, circle map and a paragraph graphic organiser. They then wrote, re-crafted and edited their work. After completing a piece of artwork based on their writing, they scanned it into iPhoto and put it in iMovie. They recorded reading their writing and made it into a digital story.
